Jay Kennedy joins Ballenger Realty after working as a Restaurant Broker for 7 years. He is very excited about developing his residential real estate skills beyond his restaurant expertise. Jay obtained his real estate license after selling his own restaurant, capping 25 years in the Food and Beverage Industry. On top of bringing his work ethic from the service industry, Jay has always been a numbers person. He has a knack for analyzing profit and loss statements to determine cash flow, valuing businesses to determine a sales price pending client goals and the market, and projecting future potential via a pro forma with suggestions to increase profitability and hence value. These should translate well to providing the best Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) for the residential market.
Jay’s roots are deep in Beaufort. His grandparents and father were raised in The Old Point neighborhood of downtown, and he currently resides in that same family home. Although his career and passions took him away to Utah, the coast of South Carolina is in his blood. Many special times have been shared on The Kennedy Dock cooking fresh caught seafood, listening to Grandma’s stories of Beaufort’s past, and enjoying all the joys our local waterways offer.
In his free time Jay enjoys travel, including visiting all 50 states (as of summer 2022). He especially loves snowboarding, whitewater kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking. Family travels include cross country RV trips to a vast array of our National Parks; as well as many of the state and county parks of SC, NC, and GA. Weekends he’s been busy travelling with his son’s baseball tournaments (Gamechanger manager) and his daughter’s volleyball tournaments (Team Dad). As a Clemson University graduate (1994), he enjoys attending various Clemson sporting events. In the fall, college football and chicken wings are a staple. He’s also been known to frequent Phish concerts.
